Dumfries Men`s Shed is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). - SC045382
You may have heard that recent surveys have shown a rise in the social isolation of people, as we live longer and stay in our homes far longer than we used to do. Loneliness affects around 40% of older people in Scotland. This can have serious health impacts both mentally and physically, making people more vulnerable to illness and disease. We are not here just for those in retirement but also for those without jobs, those recovering from illness and those trying to make a better life for themselves for whatever reason.
How to Join
If you are interested in finding out more or want to talk to someone about coming along for a visit, you can phone the number on the contact section or just come along to the Shed when we are open; we`re a friendly bunch. If you wish, someone can ring you with details and maybe meet up for a chat before you come along for your first visit, whatever suits you best.
No commitment from you is needed, unless you wish to give it! Why not get involved in leading a session doing something you like. Our membership is open to both Male and Females and if you wish to join the Shed there is a annual membership fee of £15. There is also a fee of £2 every time you attend a session. However, the £2 get`s you as much tea and coffee as you like as well as biscuits. If you wish to have your lunch at the Shed (2-3 Course Meal) this will be an additional fee of £2 taking your daily total fee up to £4.00.
